is no such thing as a Sinner's Prayer in the scriptures. I Pet
3:12
Good and Evil cannot dwell together in a Temple. After being baptized, our bodies become the Temple of God (I Cor 3:16) When our soul is cleansed of sin, it becomes a temple of God. It is a false teaching that suggests that we just let Jesus come into our heart before we are baptised Christ will not come into our Temple if the soul is stained with sin. Therefore we cannot expect to have Christ come into our heart until our soul is cleansed through baptism as an enactment of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. |
In baptism, we are buried with Christ and raised to a new life. We emerge from the water as a new creature, saved, with our sins forgiven. Our souls are spotless and we are added to the church and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. We gain the privilege of prayer and the opportunity for communication with God our Father since we became His child through baptism. From then on we can ask God for forgiveness of any sin we commit and if we are truly repentant He will both forgive and forget that sin. 1 John 1:7-9 |
