Baptized into Christ - Change of Lifestyle, Acts 2:38
There is no such thing as a Sinner's Prayer in the scriptures.  I Pet 3:12
Cornelius was a rightness man and through God's grace, opened the door for non-Jewish people to accept Christ putting Him on through baptism.  Acts 10: 1-48
Good and Evil cannot dwell together in a Temple.
After being baptized, our bodies become the Temple of God (I Cor 3:16)
When our soul is cleansed of sin, it becomes a temple of God.
It is a false teaching that suggests that we just let Jesus come into our heart before we are baptised
Christ will not come into our Temple if the soul is stained with sin.

Therefore we cannot expect to have Christ come into our heart until our soul is cleansed through baptism as an enactment of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.
In baptism, we are buried with Christ and raised to a new life.  We emerge from the water as a new creature, saved, with our sins forgiven.  Our souls are spotless and we are added to the church and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  We gain the privilege of prayer and the opportunity for communication with God our Father since we became His child through baptism. From then on we can ask God for forgiveness of any sin we commit and if we are truly repentant He will both forgive and forget that sin.   1 John 1:7-9

Is Baptism the work of Man or the Work of God?
God commands it, Acts 10:48, And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
Man answers through the answer of a good conscience.  1 Peter 3:21a, baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
God:    buries us with Christ, Colossians 2:12, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
saves us, Mark 16:15-16, And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
            saves us,Titus 3:5,
not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit
causes us to be born again, John 3:5, Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God
forgives us of our sins, Acts 2:38-39, Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
clothes us with Christ, Galatians 3:26-27, For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
unites us with Christ, Romans 6:3-5, Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection
Sanctifies and justifies us.  I Corinthians 6:11, And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
makes us a new creature, the old is gone and the new has come, II Corinthians 5:17,
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
adds us to the church (not a congregation), the kingdom, Acts 2:47, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
adds us to the church (not a congregation), the kingdom,  John 3:5,
Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
allows His spirit to start living in us to begin bearing the fruits of the spirit, I Corinthians 12:6, And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
I Corinthians 13:4-7  Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
makes us God's Elect and to live faithfully, Colossians 3:12-14,
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Gives us a channel to talk with him through prayer.  The Bible makes it very clear that prayer is the privilege of Christians, not alien sinners,
                  Matthew 6:9,
In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
1 Peter 3:12.  "For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.”
Baptism is the manifestation of the Grace of God, because he loves us so much.
Is there any reason there should not be an urgency in being baptized?  Should we get on with it since God does so many things for us out of his grace?   The Ethiopian Official asked, "Here is some water, what is to keep me from being baptised?"  Acts 8:36
Does this pattern apply today?  "But false prophets also arose among the people , just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies." 2 Peter 2:1  Also, rememder: Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21.   And then, The Bible makes it very clear that prayer is the privilege of Christians, not alien sinners Matthew 6:9, 1 Peter 3:12.   We are also challenged ..but try the spirits whether they are of God... 1 John. 4:1.
