The Bible teaches that we are saved by a combination of things.
Any
doctrine of salvation by faith only, or grace only, or a combination of
a few things only is false.
Bereans were more noble for they searched the
scriptures daily in Acts
17:10-11. It is also interesting what the 3d
century Augustine
said,
“If you believe what you like in the gospel, and reject what you don't
like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself.” Words of wisdom
to live in a sound relationship with God and His Son. The Bible says in
I John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are
of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
David wrote in Psalms 119:105,
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Bible
says in Romans 1:22 ...(Don't
let
this happen) some
become fools for rejecting the knowledge of
God. In Isaiah 55:8-9 we
read “For my
thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are
higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my
thoughts than your thoughts." And
the Bible
also says in John 12:48, He
that rejecteth me and receiveth not my words, hath one that
judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in
the last day. Also read II John
1:19 , Whosoever
transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not
God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the
Father and the Son. Colossians
2:8 Paul warns us, Beware lest any man spoil you through
philosophy
and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the
world, and not after Christ. It
is not an either/or choice. We must accept all of what God
says. So be a
Berean!!! Study this and learn more of the will of God and His Promises.
